Federal Energy Minister, Engineer Khurrum Dastgir Khan visited the power generation company at the site of block one of Thar coal project.
The Federal Minister reviewed the work on the boiler of the under-construction coal-based power plant.
Later on, the Sino Sindh Resource (Private) Limited and Chairman of the generation company of the block one power plant briefed the Federal Minister about the ongoing development works at the site.
Also present on the occasion were Joint Secretary of the Energy Ministry, Salman Qayyum, Managing-Director Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB) Shahjahan Mirza, Director-General Coal of PPIB Ali Nawaz, CEO and Deputy CEO of the Chinese company working at the site.
The CEO of Shanghai Electric drew the attention of the Federal Minister to the problems, which had been delaying the speedy execution of the project.
The Federal Minister assured the audience that he would provide his fullest support to resolve these issues.
He said that Thar had emerged as the important hub of the Pakistani energy sector.
He praised the work being done at the site of block one of Thar and emphasized that the project should be completed at the earliest. The Chairman of the Chinese company also presented a commemorative shield to the Federal Minister.
While talking to the media persons at the Thar Airport, the Energy Minister said the coal mining and power project promised a bright future for the natives of the Thar desert.
He said the officials concerned had been asked to make sure that Thar coal and energy project should generate maximum employment opportunities for the local people.
He said the local Thari people wouldn’t endure hardships anymore. He said the coming generation of Thari people would be most educated with maximum employment opportunities available to them.
